Sevilla sporting director Ramon Verdejo has revealed that Liverpool have failed with a bid for midfielder Luis Alberto.
The Merseysiders are keen on the 21-year-old Spaniard, who spent last season on loan at Barcelona.
"Interest from Liverpool is real but nothing is signed," Verdejo told the club's official television channel. "The player has received an important offer, but at the moment he is a Sevilla player.
"The first offer the club has is very good, but we are not satisfied yet."
Sevilla are understood to value Alberto at around £7m.
