Liverpool are poised to swoop for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke if Luis Suarez leaves the club, according to a report.

Liverpool are reportedly weighing up a bid to sign Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke should Luis Suarez leave the club.

The Uruguayan has stated that he wants to leave Anfield following a difficult end to the season, as he served a suspension for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

The Reds are ready to move for Benteke if Suarez follows through on his threat and will hope to pounce for the 22-year-old before Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal can bid for him, reports the Daily Mail.

Benteke scored 23 goals in all competitions for the Villans last season.
