Jurgen Klopp 'to be given £100m transfer funds'

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will reportedly receive a transfer kitty of £100m this summer as he looks to bring in a goalkeeper and striker.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will reportedly be given £100m to spend on transfers this summer.

Owners Fenway Sports Group have pledged the funds to the German with the instructions to make the Reds "title contenders" next season, according to The Sun.

Klopp secured just one signing in the mid-season window, the £5.1m capture of Serbian midfielder Marko Grujic, but missed out on high-profile targets including Alex Teixeira.

Last summer, with Brendan Rodgers at the helm, the club sanctioned purchases of around £75m, including Christian Benteke (£32.5m), Roberto Firmino (£29m) and Nathaniel Clyne (£12.5m), partly offset by sales including Raheem Sterling (£35.2m) and Fabio Borini (£10m).

The newspaper claims that a new goalkeeper is top of Klopp's wishlist, with Jack Butland and Fraser Forster in the frame, as well as a marquee signing in attack.

The Reds have previously been linked with summer moves for Bayern Munich's Mario Gotze and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Klopp's former club Borussia Dortmund.
