Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp refused to comment on reports that the club have made a £25m bid for Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker Alex Teixeira.
In Friday's press conference, the German coach was probed on speculation that the Merseyside outfit are keen to open talks with the Ukrainian club regarding a transfer.
The 26-year-old, who is believed to be valued at £40m by Shakhtar, has been linked with Liverpool's Premier League rivals Chelsea, but widespread reports have claimed that Teixeira is the Reds' top transfer target.
When asked about the club's rumoured interest, Klopp told reporters: "No. Nothing to say about this. I could say a lot about a lot of players."
The former Borussia Dortmund boss then joked with one journalist by saying: "Be careful with your questions."
When asked further on transfers, Klopp claimed: "If you are under pressure people want prices which you think are crazy. It's not perfect time to buy but we have to watch the market. If we find a solution and a player who can help us then we'll try.
"I think I always said if our situation changed then we would have to change. If there's a good player who can help us then we think about it."
Teixeira has scored 26 goals in 25 games in all competitions this season.
