New Valencia midfielder Seydou Keita has revealed that he was in "advanced talks" with Liverpool before signing for the Spanish club.
The Merseyside outfit failed to bring in any new players during the January transfer window following unsuccessful attempts to land Mohamed Salah and Yevhen Konoplyanka.
Now, it appears that the club were also close to acquiring the signature of the 34-year-old former Barcelona midfielder, who opted against a move to Anfield for the Mestalla.
"When my agent told me that Valencia called to sign me, I didn't hesitate for even a second," Goal.com quotes Keita as saying.
"I had very advanced talks with Liverpool, but I wanted to come here and I made that known to my agent."
Keita moved to Valencia on a free transfer after an 18-month stint at Chinese club Dalian Aerbin.
