Joe Allen 'wants future sorted this summer'

Liverpool's Euro 2016 star Joe Allen reportedly wants his future to be resolved this summer rather than waiting until the end of his contract in 2017.

Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen has reportedly told the club that he wants his future to be sorted this summer rather than waiting until the end of his contract in 2017.

The 26-year-old was used sparingly by the Reds last season, making just eight Premier League starts and largely being limited to appearances off the bench.

Interest in the Wales international has grown following his performances for his country at Euro 2016, where he was named in UEFA's Team of the Tournament having helped the Dragons all the way to the semi-final.

Liverpool rejected an £8m bid from Swansea City for Allen last month, but are yet to open talks over a new deal despite manager Jurgen Klopp insisting that he wants to find a solution sooner rather than later.

Allen is thought to be happy to stay at Anfield, but only if he is guaranteed more regular first-team football having found himself behind the likes of Jordan Henderson, Lucas Leiva, Emre Can and James Milner in the pecking order last term.

Allen joined Liverpool from Swansea in 2012 and has since gone on to make 129 appearances for the club.
