Harry Redknapp tips Liverpool as serious contenders to snatch the Premier League title from Manchester City after spending big during the summer.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has tipped Liverpool to push defending champions Manchester City all the way in a two-team title race next season.

The Reds have been busy strengthening their squad during the off-season after finishing fourth in the Premier League last time out, 25 points adrift of the Citizens.

Following the arrivals of Alisson Becker, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri, however, Redknapp expects Jurgen Klopp's men to provide the sternest competition for last term's runaway champions.

"Man City are obviously the favourites again, but I've got a strong feeling Liverpool will chase them all the way this year," he told talkSPORT. "Now they've made the two or three signings they were maybe short of last season, Klopp is gradually, bit-by-bit, putting the pieces of that team together.

"I think he's very, very close to it at Liverpool now and I think they are going to be big contenders this year for sure. Tottenham are going to be there again, and so are Manchester United. If anyone is going to miss out, unless Arsenal improve drastically and Chelsea, they may end up finishing fifth and sixth again.

"I'd be surprised in Spurs didn't make the top four again, I think they're capable, but I think Liverpool and Man City will fight it out for the Premier League title this year."

Including the January signing of Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool have now spent £250m on new arrivals since the start of the year.
