Brendan Rodgers to stay on as Liverpool manager

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will stay at the club for the start of the 2015-16 season after a positive end-of-season review with chairman Tom Werner.

Brendan Rodgers has been told that he will still be manager of Liverpool going into the 2015-16 season.

The Northern Irishman has come in for criticism this term, having led the Reds to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League just a year after coming agonisingly close to a first title since 1990.

Jurgen Klopp's departure from Borussia Dortmund further intensified rumours that Liverpool could be on the search for a new manager, with chairman Tom Werner flying in for an end-of-season review this afternoon.

However, it is understood that the meeting was positive, and that all parties have agreed that improvements must be made next season.

Rodgers is yet to win silverware since taking over from Kenny Dalglish in 2012, but the former Swansea City boss was lauded for the work he did with the Anfield outfit last season.

The loss of Luis Suarez to Barcelona and Daniel Sturridge to injury hampered their bid to build on their runners-up spot, however, and their disappointing campaign ended with a 6-1 drubbing at the hands of Stoke City on the final day.
