Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling has heaped praise upon manager Brendan Rodgers.

The 18-year-old became a regular in the starting lineup under Rodgers at the start of last season before a mix of injury and loss of form saw him fall out of favour at Anfield.

However, Sterling insists that Rodgers pays as much attention to players who aren't in form as he does to those that are, and believes that Liverpool are lucky to have him at the helm.

"I can't talk any more highly of him as a person, not just as a manager," Sterling told the club's official website.

"He's a top guy. He's one of those who isn't only interested if you're playing well at that moment. He looks at players who are not playing or young players.

"Liverpool should be really grateful they've got a manager like that."

Sterling made 36 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool last season, scoring two goals.
