Mamadou Sakho: 'Liverpool suits me'

Mamadou Sakho claims that the family mentality of Liverpool suits him better than the rich investment at Qatari-owned Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has claimed that the club suits him well after moving from Paris Saint-Germain at the end of August.

The 23-year-old worked his way through the ranks at PSG, becoming the club captain, before they were taken over by Qatari investment.

"They are two different styles, the influx of money, or building player-by-player to fill the squad. The Paris model was very business minded," Sakho told the Daily Telegraph.

"I have come here to a club that functions with a family mentality. That is what suits me and I feel already that we have everybody in the family group, heading towards the same goal.

"There are a lot of very good players at Liverpool and the club has shown great ambition this season. They have big ambitions in the Premier League and obviously the clear objective of qualifying for the Champions League. That appealed to me, as did the chance to move to another country and another culture."

Sakho played as Liverpool lost 1-0 to Southampton on Saturday afternoon, ending their unbeaten start to the season in the process.
