Brendan Rodgers hails Hull City win as best result

Brendan Rodgers claims that Liverpool's 2-0 win over Hull City represents his team's best result of the campaign.

Brendan Rodgers believes that Liverpool's 2-0 victory over Hull City this afternoon represents his team's most impressive win of the Premier League campaign thus far.

The Reds went into today's clash at Anfield having being humbled by Manchester City and Chelsea over the festive period, resulting in the Merseyside outfit slipping from the summit of the table to fifth in the space of three days.

Daniel Agger and Luis Suarez secured the points - the latter recording his 20th league goal - and Rodgers claims that beating the Tigers is just the tonic to what proved an indifferent Christmas for his side.

He told reporters: "It was arguably our best win of the season, on the back of what was a tough schedule for us with a light squad.

"The energy, as you'd expect, was not what it has been but we showed great resilience today."

Liverpool travel to League One outfit Oldham Athletic for a third-round FA Cup clash on Sunday.
