Brendan Rodgers hails Aly Cissokho and Glen Johnson performances

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers praises Aly Cissokho and Glen Johnson for their performances against Newcastle United on Saturday lunchtime.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has praised Glen Johnson and Aly Cissokho for their performances in Saturday's 2-2 draw against Newcastle United.

Both full-backs have been absent in recent weeks following injuries, and Rodgers was quick to highlight their showing in the game at St James' Park.

"With Cissokho and Glen Johnson, the running and the work that they put in today was brilliant, considering they had literally just re-joined training," Rodgers told the club's official website.

"The [wing-back] role they played demands that they have to get up the pitch and they've got to get back. So it's a great credit to them.

"Jose Enrique was injured. He's had a problem all season with his knee and he's struggled."

The Reds are currently third in the Premier League.
