Liverpool's Lucas Leiva determined to close top-four gap with win over Arsenal

Lucas Leiva believes that Liverpool are capable of getting a result against Arsenal, despite falling to Manchester United in their last Premier League outing.

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva is hopeful that he and his teammates can bounce back from their defeat to Manchester United by snatching all three points in Saturday's clash against Arsenal.

The Merseyside outfit dropped five points behind fourth following a 2-1 defeat to United at Anfield 12 days ago.

Tomorrow lunchtime, Brendan Rodgers's team face a side who are third in the Premier League and are unbeaten in their last six domestic fixtures.

However, Lucas believes that the team can draw on their Capital One Cup semi-final performances against Chelsea when they head to North London.

"Of course losing could open the gap too much but I think we've showed this season when we are playing well we can play against any team," Lucas told Liverpool's official website.

"We remember the semi-finals against Chelsea and I know we ended up losing the game after extra-time, but I think we created a lot of chances to win the game and we should take that into the Emirates against Arsenal.

"We are on a good run and that was our only league defeat in 2015 which gives us confidence to keep going and try to win the game."

Liverpool have lost twice in their last 18 league matches.
