Jurgen Klopp has admitted his 'surprise' at being offered a new six-year contract at Liverpool.
The 47-year-old, who joined the Reds on a two-and-a-half year deal last October, put pen to paper on new terms to keep him in place at Anfield until 2022.
Klopp is happy to have committed his long-term future to Liverpool, though, having seen his side kick off their pre-season campaign with a 1-0 victory over Tranmere Rovers on Friday evening.
"When they asked me I was surprised but it felt right and now we are all happy," the Daily Star quotes the German as saying. "I asked myself is this the right option or do I want to train another team?
"I asked my coaches and my family and they all said no - it's all about getting the right signs."
Klopp guided Liverpool to the Europa League final and an eighth-place finish in the Premier League during his first season in English football.
