Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp claims that none of their rivals holds genuine hope of challenging Manchester City for the Premier League title.

Boss Jurgen Klopp has suggested that trying to achieve second place in the Premier League table is Liverpool's main target this season.

Manchester City hold an 11-point lead at the top of the league standings after recording 15 victories in a row, while Liverpool currently sit in fifth place and are 18 points adrift of Pep Guardiola's side.

Klopp has acknowledged that City are likely to win the league crown, but the German insists that fighting to become "the best of the rest" is a realistic target.

The 50-year-old is quoted by The Telegraph as saying: "This season nobody is really fighting anymore for the title. I don't think United are.

"We will all try to come as close as possible but if City doesn't have any drop then they will probably win it so does that mean all the others have to stop?

"To be the best of the rest could be a fantastic target. So it is to try to have the best position in the table which for us – for the last I don;t know how many years – is probably third or second."

After two draws in a row, Liverpool will hope to return to winning ways on Sunday when they play Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
