Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre says that there is no-one "better" than Jurgen Klopp to manage the Reds.

Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre has said that there is no "better character" than Jurgen Klopp to manage the side.

The charismatic German took over at Anfield last November and guided the Reds to the finals of the Europa League and the League Cup in his first season in charge, while the side looks set to mount a title challenge this term, having already racked up notable wins over Arsenal, Leicester City and Chelsea.

"Whatever happens on the football pitch in the future only time will tell, but I don't think you could pick a better character to fit this club. Seeing that unfold has certainly given me satisfaction," Ayre, who will leave the club next year, told the Liverpool Echo.

"It is a massive challenge and won't be without its ups and downs but in terms of did we get the right man for the job? There is absolutely no question. That stands out a mile.

"When you come to a football club from another country and another league, it is very difficult to be accepted. To get so many people behind him so quickly is great testament to the person he is."

Since taking the reins at Anfield, Klopp has a win percentage of 49.2% with 30 victories, 18 draws and 13 defeats from his 61 games in charge.
