Liverpool are reportedly considering whether to use Diogo Jota and Harvey Elliott as part of a swap deal for Newcastle United star Alexander Isak.

Liverpool duo Diogo Jota and Harvey Elliott are reportedly admired by Newcastle United as the summer transfer window approaches.

The Reds and the Magpies have become well-acquainted in recent weeks, with the pair facing off at Wembley in the EFL Cup final, with the North-East giants winning their first major trophy of the 21st century.

Key to Newcastle's success so far this season, Alexander Isak is wanted by a host of clubs in England, including Liverpool and Arsenal ahead of the summer trading point.

The super Swede has bagged 19 goals across 25 Premier League appearances for Eddie Howe's side, establishing himself as one of the most potent strikers in European football this term.

Isak and company return to Premier League action at St James' Park on Wednesday night when Brentford will be the visitors to the North-East.

Liverpool to use Jota, Elliott in Isak swap deal?

According to GiveMeSport, potential suitors of Isak are coming up with inventive ways to lure Newcastle into a sale of the Swede during the summer.

The report claims that league leaders Liverpool could offer the Magpies both Jota and Elliott as part of a move to bring the 25-year-old to Anfield ahead of the new campaign.

It is understood that Newcastle head coach Howe is a fan of both Jota and Elliott, meaning that such an arrangement is feasible in the near future.

On the other hand, it is believed that the EFL Cup winners are not willing to entertain the idea of Darwin Nunez switching to St James' Park over the summer.

Despite intense interest from around the Premier League, Newcastle are keen to keep hold of Isak, who has undoubtedly been their standout player this season.

Newcastle's striking situation

With Isak attracting attention from plenty of top sides, Newcastle could be set to lose two first-team strikers before the commencement of the 2025-26 term.

The Magpies are expected to wave goodbye to the services of Callum Wilson, whose contract at St James' Park expires at the end of the campaign.

Howe lost a member of his attacking armoury during the January transfer window, when South American Miguel Almiron returned to Atlanta United in MLS.

Should Isak and Wilson both depart this summer, Newcastle would be staring a major rebuild in the face, one which could be aided by the arrival of Liverpool pair Jota and Elliott.
