Jordan Henderson: 'We won't change approach for Manchester City game'

Jordan Henderson downplays the importance of Liverpool's potential title decider with Manchester City by claiming that they will not approach the match any differently.

Jordan Henderson has insisted that Liverpool will approach their potential title-decider against Manchester City next weekend as if it were just any other game.

The table-topping Reds host Manuel Pellegrini's side at Anfield on Sunday knowing that victory would put them in pole position for Premier League glory, but Henderson has played down the importance of the match.

Liverpool are two points ahead of Chelsea and four clear of Manchester City following a run of nine consecutive wins, and with things going so well recently, Henderson sees no reason for them to change anything ahead of City's visit to Merseyside.

"We've got five games left. It's not one. It's five," he told reporters. "We've got to take each one as it comes and it is City - it is a big game but so are the other four. I've said all along that we must take each game as it comes and obviously the next one is Man City and we must approach that like we have been all season.

"We've got to put on a good performance and get the three points. We've got to concentrate, keep our focus and keep approaching games like we have been. We are high on confidence. But we continue to work hard on the training ground and in games. That's the most important thing.

"No matter what circumstances you are in the game, if you keep working then your just rewards will come. That's what happened at West Ham. We controlled the game really well, especially second half."

Liverpool have not won an English championship since lifting the trophy in the 1989-1990 season.
