West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke is keeping his feet firmly on the ground following his side's 3-0 win over Liverpool.

West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke has described his side's opening-day thrashing of Liverpool as "a decent start".

The Baggies overcame the 10-man Reds 3-0 at the Hawthorns, courtesy of goals from Zoltan Gera, Peter Odemwingie and Romelu Lukaku.

"It is a decent start," Clarke told BBC Sport. "We have worked really hard in pre-season. They did what we asked them to do, we were a threat going forward against one of the top teams, and Liverpool will be a top team this season.

"I take satisfaction from the result. It was good start for me but more than that it was a good start for the players. It is a positive boost for us to get a result like that against Liverpool, but we know it is a long season.

"We will enjoy the three points but come in tomorrow and start again preparing for our next game."

Next up for West Brom is a trip to Tottenham Hotspur a week today.
