Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher reveals his relief at reaching the FA Cup final, saying that losing to Everton would have been a "nightmare".

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has revealed that his overwhelming emotion after helping his side reach the FA Cup final was one of relief.

A late header from Andy Carroll gave Liverpool a 2-1 win over local rivals Everton in the semi-final after Luis Suarez had levelled the sides on the hour mark, and Carragher reserved special praise for the attacking duo.

When asked what his emotions were at the full-time whistle, the Liverpool defender said: "Relief, really. Liverpool losing to Everton in the semi-final - it would have been a nightmare. Just relief that the lads went up the other end and showed what Liverpool is all about.

"Everyone wanted Everton to win. [Everton manager] David Moyes said the whole country was with them. Well, we showed we're a special club, special fans. Not many teams can come back. We've done it again. We've got that ability to come back."

"[Carroll will] be remembered forever for that, and Suarez I wouldn't swap for any other player in the league."

Liverpool will face either Tottenham Hotspur or Chelsea in the final, which will take place on May 5.
