John Aldridge: 'Liverpool are struggling'

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge believes that the team has a big task ahead of them in turning their season around.

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge has admitted that the team needs to work hard if they want to turn their season around.

The Reds are currently in 11th place in the Premier League table, while their hopes of progressing in the Champions League remain in the balance following three defeats in their opening four matches of the competition.

Aldridge believes that it is "imperative" for Brendan Rodgers's side to finish in the top four at the end of the campaign if they want to attract the best players to Anfield.

"At the moment we're struggling badly. It goes without saying, we're playing like a mid-table team so there's a lot of work to be done," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"We need, it's imperative, on the back of getting into the Champions League this year we attain it again and keep on rebuilding because the best players always want to play in the Champions League."

Liverpool continue their Premier League campaign on November 23 when they make the trip to Crystal Palace.
