Former Liverpool forward John Aldridge has blasted Milan Jovanovic for saying that the city is "depressing".
The Serb revealed in a recent interview that he has warned his Anderlecht teammate Matias Suarez against a move to Merseyside.
"I couldn't believe it when I read that Milan Jovanovic has been slaughtering Liverpool," Aldridge wrote in his column for the Liverpool Echo. "Apparently the Serbian has told his Anderlecht teammate Matias Suarez not to ever consider moving to Anfield.
"Jovanovic said he spent most of his time crying when he was at Liverpool and felt unhappy every day in the city. Well, I shed a tear every time I saw Jovanovic walk out on that pitch. He shouldn't have been anywhere near our football club because he wasn't good enough.
"Liverpool fans gave him a chance when he didn't deserve one and he repays them by disrespecting the club and our great city."
Jovanovic only made 10 appearances for Liverpool after moving to Anfield on a free transfer from Standard Liege.
