Tottenham Hotspur's Mauricio Pochettino: 'We share many values with Liverpool'

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino says that the club share "many values and principles" with Liverpool.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that the club share "many values and principles" with Liverpool.

The two clubs go head to head this evening in the EFL Cup and both are outside contenders for the Premier League title this season.

Recent meetings between the two clubs have produced tight games, with the last three since Jurgen Klopp's arrival at Liverpool ending in draws.

The two faced one another for the first time this season at the end of August when they played out a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane.

Despite their rivalry, Pochettino sees many similarities between the two clubs.

"They have one of the best squads - if not the best squad - in the Premier League," the London Evening Standard quotes Pochettino as saying.

"After the summer they have improved a lot by a lot by signing very good players and investing a lot of money. In the way they play, they are very aggressive. Liverpool are one of the contenders to win the title.

"We share the aggression and intensity. Liverpool and Tottenham are different squads but we share many values and principles."

Spurs are fifth in the league table, just one point behind third-placed Liverpool.
