Paul Ince: 'Steven Gerrard deserves FA Cup send-off'

Liverpool need to use Steven Gerrard's impending departure as extra motivation to win the FA Cup, according to former midfielder Paul Ince.

Paul Ince has told former club Liverpool to give Los Angeles Galaxy-bound Steven Gerrard a parting gift in the form of an FA Cup title.

Brendan Rodgers's side booked a semi-final with Aston Villa at Wembley after Philippe Coutinho's strike proved enough to beat Blackburn Rovers 1-0 at Ewood Park last night.

Should they reach the final, it may represent Gerrard's last ever appearance in what has proven a legendary 17-year senior career with the Reds, and Ince has urged them to give their captain the perfect send-off.

"It would be nice for Steven Gerrard to finish at Liverpool by winning something," he told BBC Sport. "But I wish it had been the Premier League. Someone of his greatness should have won the Premier League."

Gerrard and co will face either Arsenal or Reading in the final if they eliminate Villa on April 19.
