Besiktas boss Slaven Bilic: 'It's a great night for Turkish football'

Besiktas manager Slaven Bilic says that his side's win over Liverpool was good for Turkish football.

Besiktas manager Slaven Bilic has declared that his side deserves to be in the last 16 of the Europa League following their penalty shootout victory over Liverpool.

The Croatian said that it is a "great night" for Turkish football after watching his team emerge 1-0 winners in the second leg of their last-32 tie to level the fixture on aggregate, before going on to edge the shootout 5-4.

"It's a great feeling. It's a great night for our great club, for Besiktas. For Turkish football as well," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

"We definitely deserve it and we are so proud of our players."

Tolgay Arslan's second-half strike levelled the tie on aggregate to force extra time and penalties, with Liverpool's Dejan Lovren missing the crucial kick to put Besiktas into the next round.
