Mohamed Salah insists that he "does not care" about personal accolades as he is instead solely focused on helping Liverpool to win the Champions League.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has insisted that he would happily trade in the personal honours heading his way in exchange for Champions League success.

The Egypt international is favourite to be named PFA Player of the Year next weekend for a hugely impressive campaign that has seen him net 40 goals in all competitions.

Thirty of those have come in the Premier League, leaving him out in front in the race to win the Golden Boot, but the accolades will count for little unless Salah gets his hands on the big prize next month - the Champions League trophy.

Asked which he would prefer, the PFA gong or the European Cup, Salah told reporters: "I have no doubt... the Champions League. If you had a choice between the Champions League and [honours like the Golden Boot] then of course the Champions League.

"To win the Champions League is huge for everyone. I don't care about the rest. It's also very close, it's just seven goals. But let's see. I don't know how many games there is to go, but we have the Premier League and semi-finals of the Champions League. I will try my best to score again and help the team.

"It means a lot to me. It's a great feeling. But even in the end I said it - I try to score every game to help the team. To get the points. That is the most important thing for us, that we play as a team, we play as 11 players. So each goal for me, or for anyone else is to try to help the team."

Liverpool will face Salah's former club Roma in the last four of the Champions League, with the first leg to take place at Anfield on April 24.
