Liverpool handed tough Champions League draw

Last year's runners-up Liverpool will meet Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli in the Champions League group stages.

Liverpool have been drawn to meet Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli in the Champions League group stages.

The Premier League side enjoyed a run to the final of the competition last season, but Jurgen Klopp's men face a difficult task to reach the last 16 on this occasion.

Liverpool were only placed in pot three due to their fourth-place finish in England's top flight, and that has resulted in early showdowns with French champions PSG and Serie A runners-up Napoli.

Klopp would have hoped for an easier draw from the teams in pot four, but Liverpool will also take on Serbian outfit Red Star Belgrade in Group C.

The first matchday takes place on September 18 and 19.
