Steven Gerrard is confident that Liverpool can progress from their Champions League group.
The Reds have been drawn alongside current holders Real Madrid, but will also face FC Basel and Ludogorets in Group B, and the captain thinks that they have the quality to move into the knockout stages.
"I think we're capable of getting out the group," Gerrard told Sky Sports News. "I suppose a lot of the supporters look at what countries they're going to visit and stuff, but for a player, it's different.
"You want to look at the group and have you got confidence and belief in your team that you can progress, and I certainly have. We're not in it to make the numbers up and go and enjoy the Bernabeu, we're going there for points.
"For me, in my experience if we get 10 points then we'll get through. The respect is there [for Real Madrid] but they'll find it difficult too."
Brendan Rodgers's side travel to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
