Wigan Athletic manager Malky Mackay has revealed that Shaun Maloney's proposed move to Leicester City has collapsed.
The Scotland international was said to be on the brink of a switch to the Foxes for around £1m, but Mackay has now said that the move is off, although MLS side Chicago Fire retain an interest in the midfielder.
Mackay is quoted as saying in The Mirror: "In the last few days we accepted a bid from Leicester City for Shaun Maloney, but personal talks have broken down between the club and Shaun, so that looks like it's finished.
"Chicago Fire are another club that have a keen interest in Shaun, but that wouldn't be until the end of his contract.
"As far as we're concerned, we're delighted that we've got Shaun as our player."
Leicester have already added Andrej Kramaric to their ranks so far this month for a club-record fee of around £8m.
