Dean Smith reveals that he will discuss his future with Leicester City chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha in the coming days.

Leicester City boss Dean Smith has said that he will discuss his future with the club's hierarchy after they were relegated from the Premier League.

Goals from Harvey Barnes and Wout Faes guided Leicester to a 2-1 home victory over West Ham United, but the result counted for little due to Everton's win against Bournemouth.

The Toffees claimed a narrow 1-0 victory to guarantee their own safety and bring an end to Leicester's nine-year stay in the top flight.

Smith, who was appointed on a short-term deal in April, has stated that he will speak about his future with club chairman Aiyawatt 'Top' Srivaddhanaprabha and director of football Jon Rudkin.

"Seven weeks, eight games, we didn't speak about anything beyond that," Smith told reporters after Leicester's relegation was confirmed.

"I will speak to Top, who I have an awful lot of respect for, over the next couple of days and commiserate with him because the time and effort he puts into this football club is there for all to see.

"I am certainly not thinking about my future at the moment. It is raw getting relegated now, I'll go away and reflect on it, speak to John and Top. It's a hypothetical question at the moment."

While there is uncertainty surrounding the manager's position, Smith is confident that Leicester can "bounce back" from a disappointing campaign.

"The raw materials this club has is an elite club" Smith added. "It feels raw now and it hurts and everybody will be devastated but with the infrastructure it has got it can bounce back.

"That is what happens. There has been plenty of times where you have knocks and your job is to bounce back and make sure you improve on the things that let you down and I have no doubt the club will.

"I think it has to (reset). Any club that gets relegated, they have to find a way to bounce back.

"There are plenty of knocks in football, it is, we all know that week in, week out, about how you bounce back. From what I have seen with the infrastructure I see no reason why it can't bounce straight back."

Leicester will drop down to the Championship with Southampton and Leeds United after the latter were relegated following a 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
