Claude Puel insists that a bright start for Leicester City was important at Peterborough United as the Foxes claimed a 4-1 win in their FA Cup fourth-round tie.

Claude Puel has praised Leicester City's performance in the FA Cup fourth-round win at Peterborough United, insisting that a good start was important.

The Foxes raced into a three-goal lead by the half-hour mark in Saturday's game at the ABAX Stadium and, despite Andrew Hughes scoring in the second half, the visitors added two more for a 5-1 win.

Puel also paid special tribute to Fousseni Diabate, who bagged a brace and registered an assist in his full Leicester debut in Cambridgeshire.

"It was important to start well, with intensity and quality," Puel told BT Sport. "We did that and went on to score some very good goals.

"It was important for the squad that we could perform well today. Today we had good focus to recover the ball together and to play good football.

"Fousseni Diabate played in the second division in France but he had some quality to play in Premier League. It was a perfect first game. Now it's important he continues to work hard."

Leicester return to action on Wednesday night with a Premier League trip to Everton.
