Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton is reportedly open to the idea of joining Championship high-fliers Leeds United on an emergency loan deal.

Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton is reportedly eager to join Championship side Leeds United on an emergency loan deal.

Leeds are in urgent need of goalkeeping reinforcements after seeing Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Jamal Blackman both pick up injuries during the international break, leaving 20-year-old William Huffer as their most senior option between the sticks.

Blackman suffered a broken leg during an Under-23s game last week, while first-choice Peacock-Farrell sustained a knee problem in training earlier this week.

The promotion contenders are hoping to be given permission by the EFL to bring in a new shot-stopper via an emergency loan, and talkSPORT reports that they have identified Heaton as a possible target.

The 32-year-old has plummeted down the Burnley pecking order since suffering a serious shoulder injury in September 2017 and is keen for more regular first-team football elsewhere.

Joe Hart and Nick Pope are both ahead of Heaton at Turf Moor as things stand, with the England international having made just two appearances across all competitions so far this season.
