Jason Pearce is expected to leave Leeds United for Wigan Athletic after the two Championship clubs agreed a fee for his services.
The Latics are believed to have made an initial enquiry for the defender, who has played 23 times for Leeds this season, earlier this week.
Wigan now have money at their disposal after selling Callum McManaman to West Bromwich Albion and Adam Forshaw to Middlesbrough, while cutting Shaun Maloney and Ben Watson from the wage bill.
Sky Sports News claims that Pearce could become the first of several signings before the transfer deadline, with the 27-year-old poised to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical on Lancashire in the coming days.
Pearce has made 113 appearances for Leeds since joining from Portsmouth in 2012.
