Andy Lonergan parts company with Leeds United

Andy Lonergan agrees to sever his contract with Leeds United one year early.

Andy Lonergan has become the second goalkeeper to leave Leeds United this summer.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers stopper has agreed to terminate his contract one year early after being told that he was surplus to requirements.

"I really enjoyed being back at Leeds United again and I'd like to thank all of the staff and players I've worked with every day," he told the club's official website.

"The biggest thank you must go to the supporters and I wish the club the best of luck for next season."

Leeds previously parted company with last season's first-choice goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald and are expected to recruit a replacement this summer.

Manchester City youngster Angus Gunn and Chelsea's Jamal Blackman are said to be the club's top targets.
