New Leeds United boss Brian McDermott reveals that he was "shocked" to be sacked by Reading, but insists that he is "looking forward".

New Leeds United manager Brian McDermott has admitted that it took him three days to get over the disappointment of getting sacked by Reading.

The 52-year-old was dismissed by the Royals last month following 12 years at the Madesjki Stadium, but has since moved to Elland Road.

"I had to pick myself for about three days," McDermott told Sky Sports News. "After that, I just wanted to move forward. Obviously it was a shock to me at the time, but all I'm doing now is looking forward and looking ahead."

McDermott also revealed that Leeds was the only club he would have considered signing for before the end of the season.
