Leeds United legend Bobby Collins dies

Leeds United legend Bobby Collins dies aged 82 following a battle with illness.

Former Leeds United captain Bobby Collins has died aged 82 following a battle with illness.

Collins spent five years at Elland Road between 1962 and 1967, helping the side gain promotion to the top flight and become a major force in English football under Don Revie.

The Scottish midfielder played 167 times for the club, scoring 26 goals in the process, and was named the FWA Footballer of the Year in 1965.

Collins also had substantial spells at Celtic and Everton before joining Leeds, where injury eventually curtailed his career as he dropped down to play for a number of lower league sides.

He won 31 caps for Scotland during a 15-year international career that ended in 1965, before going on to manage the likes of Huddersfield Town, Hull City and Burnley.
