Massimo Cellino: 'Jose Mourinho should manage Leeds United if he has the balls'

Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino says that Jose Mourinho would take over the club if he "had the balls".

Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino has told Jose Mourinho that he should take charge of the Championship club if he 'has the balls'.

The former Chelsea boss, who was sacked by the Blues in December, has been heavily linked with Manchester United in the last couple of months.

The Portuguese coach is believed to be waiting in the wings to take over from Louis van Gaal if he is sacked by United, but Cellino claims that taking charge of Leeds would be a braver choice.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Cellino said: "I told him, 'If you had the balls, you should come and manage Leeds. Bring Leeds into the Premier League and then the Champions League. That's balls.' You want to play football - come with me to Leeds. Mourinho, like others, has to ask himself if he is still a coach. How do you find out? By going to Manchester United?

"[Carlo] Ancelotti called me. 'Massimo, bring the club into the Premier League and I come to you because the only place I miss and want to go back to is England'. For me a good coach still has to show he's a good coach. Come here and show me."

Mourinho has won league titles at Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
