David Beckham says that he is still coming to terms with being rejected from Team GB's football squad for London 2012.

Former England captain David Beckham has reiterated his "disappointment" in failing to make the cut for Great Britain's football team for this summer's London Olympics.

The 37-year-old was snubbed by Team GB boss Stuart Pearce in favour of Manchester City full-back Micah Richards. While the Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder has expressed his sadness in missing out on the Games, he has insisted that "life goes on".

"All the talk of me possibly performing in the Olympics, it would have been a very proud moment for me," said Beckham. "Everyone knows how proud I am of representing my country and to do it in my hometown on such a big stage would have been incredible, so of course I'm disappointed but life goes on."

Meanwhile, reports have claimed that either Sir Steve Redgrave or Daley Thompson will be chosen to light the Olympic torch during the opening ceremony in two weeks' time.
