Reports in Italy suggest Gianluigi Buffon is to sign a deal that will keep him at Juventus until 2016.

Reports in the Italian media have suggested that Gianluigi Buffon is close to signing a new four-year deal at Juventus.

The Italy international is still the world's most expensive goalkeeper in football after his move to Turin from Parma for £32.6 million in 2001.

The 34-year-old shot-stopper is still an integral part of the Old Lady's side and it seems that Juventus are keen to let Buffon see out his career at the club.

Claudio Ranieri's Monaco were reportedly considering a move for the veteran, though it looks as though the goalkeeper is to stay in Italy until at least 2016.

The deal is apparently going to be made official within the next few days.
