Fiorentina frontman Giuseppe Rossi has made it despite missing a chunk of this season through injury, while Sunderland's Emmanuele Giaccherini misses out.

Antonio Cassano earns his first international call-up since Euro 2012 after a productive season with Parma.

Genoa's Alberto Gilardino misses out in attack, with Serie A top scorer Ciro Immobile of Torino also in the squad.

Prandelli is expected to trim his squad to the required 23 later this month.

Italy are up against England, Uruguay and Costa Rica in the group stages in Brazil.
