Mick McCarthy hopes Ryan Tunnicliffe extends Ipswich Town stay

Mick McCarthy hopes that Manchester United's Ryan Tunnicliffe will want to extend his loan stay at Ipswich Town past January.

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy has said that he wants Manchester United loanee Ryan Tunnicliffe to extend his spell in Suffolk beyond January.

Midfielder Tunnicliffe, 20, joined Ipswich in July until the New Year and has recently embedded himself in McCarthy's starting XI on the left side of a midfield four.

"I know he's enjoying it and he looks like he is because he's playing well," McCarthy told BBC Radio Suffolk after last night's 2-1 victory over Yeovil.

"Hopefully, if he's playing every week, he'll want to stay."

Three points for the Tractor Boys last night saw them climb into the top half of the table on 11 points, six adrift of leaders Leicester and QPR.
