Mick McCarthy: 'Ipswich Town could have won'

Mick McCarthy believes his side deserved to beat Watford in Saturday's Championship encounter.

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy was happy enough with the point that his side picked up against Watford on Saturday, but believes that the Blues could have won the game.

David McGoldrick's penalty put the Tractor Boys in front only for Troy Deeney to equalise for the Hornets with nine minutes remaining, but McCarthy suggests that his team's performance was worthy of three points.

He told ITFC.co.uk: "We could have won it and with our second-half display, perhaps we deserved to win it.

"That's 11 points from 15, so we keep ticking over. They battered us here last season but that wasn't the case today. That shows you the huge strides that we have made since last year."

Ipswich are currently ninth in the Championship and travel to Doncaster Rovers on Boxing Day.
