Former Manchester United coach Mike Phelan could become Steve Bruce's number two at Hull City, according to a report in the press.

Former Manchester United assistant Mike Phelan could become Steve Bruce's number two at Hull City, according to a report.

Phelan, who spent five years alongside Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford, recently left Norwich City by mutual consent.

The Daily Mail suggests that the 52-year-old could be brought to the KC Stadium in an attempt to inject some fresh impetus into the struggling Tigers.

Bruce's Hull side currently occupy 18th spot in the Premier League table, with only four wins under their belt this season.
