Nigel Clough plays down Sheffield United's FA Cup hoodoo

Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough plays down the significance of the Blades' FA Cup record ahead of Sunday's semi-final tie at Wembley.

Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough has played down the significance of the Blades' FA Cup record ahead of Sunday's semi-final at Wembley.

United have lost each of their last four encounters at this stage of the competition, but Clough is adamant that the club's previous failings will not effect the team tomorrow.

"We've been made aware of that record and we are totally disregarding it," Clough told reporters. "I don't think it will have too much bearing come Sunday and 10 minutes past four.

"What the club have done in the past - they haven't been to too many semi-finals either - they've had disappointment in play-off finals.

"But it's a different feeling for the FA Cup semi-final. I think when you go to a play-off final and you've played 48 matches to get there, your whole season depends on that one game."

Kickoff tomorrow is set for 4.07pm.
