Gillingham bring in Doug Loft from Port Vale

Gillingham sign former Port Vale midfielder Doug Loft on a two-year deal.

Gillingham have signed former Port Vale midfielder Doug Loft on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old, who recently turned down a new deal at Vale Park, has penned a two-year contract with the Gills.

"I'm very pleased," manager Peter Taylor told the club's official website. "He's a player I have looked at for a very long time. He's a very good professional who can play in three or four positions and he's a leader.

"He's been a good servant to Port Vale, but we are delighted to get him."

Loft scored nine goals in 43 appearances for Port Vale last season.
