France coach Didier Deschamps was left to rue his side's wastefulness in front of goal as they slumped to a surprise 1-0 friendly defeat to Japan at the Stade de France on Friday.
Yasuyuki Konno stunned the home crowd when he finished off a counter attack in the 88th minute to give the visitors the shock win.
"It's a bad result," admitted Deschamps. "Japan had more opportunities after the break but we also had ours and you can't win when you don't score from your chances."
Next up for France is a World Cup qualifier against world and European champions Spain in Madrid on Tuesday.
