Didier Deschamps extends France contract

France coach Didier Deschamps extends his contract with the French Football Federation to 2016.

France coach Didier Deschamps has extended his contract with the French Football Federation following the team's World Cup qualification.

The 45-year-old former midfielder, who took charge of Les Bleus last year, will remain at the helm until 2016.

France beat Ukraine 3-0 in Paris on Tuesday to earn a 3-2 aggregate victory in their World Cup qualifying playoff.

"Didier Deschamps will remain until 2016, it was bound to happen," FFF chairman Noel Le Graet is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

Deschamps won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 as a player with France before retiring in 2001.
