France's Kylian Mbappe admits that Oliver Giroud's comments after their warm-up fixture last week "affected" him, ahead of their opening Euro 2020 game on Tuesday.

France winger Kylian Mbappe has admitted that he was "affected" by the public disagreement with striker Olivier Giroud, following France's Euro 2020 warm-up game against Bulgaria.

After Les Bleus' 4-0 victory at the Parc des Princes last week, Giroud complained that he did not get as much service from his teammates as he would have liked, after his brace edged him closer to Thierry Henry's France goalscoring record.

Mbappe reportedly wanted to publicly answer Giroud as he appeared to have been angered by his teammate's comments, but manager Didier Deschamps decided to take the matter into his own hands to draw a line under the situation.

However, during a pre-match press conference, Mbappe said: "I spoke with Olivier Giroud. Everyone knows what happened. It is true that I was a little affected by it. But we are not going to make a big deal about it because we are here to represent France, that is the most important thing.

"It is more that he said it publicly than the fact that he said it. I saw him in the dressing room and he didn't say anything to me. He expressed a feeling that I have had 365 times during a match."

France begin their Euro 2020 campaign against Germany on Tuesday, before facing Hungary and Portugal in Group F.
