Former Lille and Paris Saint Germain boss Vahid Halilhodzic labels French football as "rotten".

Former Lille and Paris Saint-Germain boss Vahid Halilhodzic has insisted that French football "has been sick for two years".

The Algeria boss also stated that the national squad is still divided following a number of disciplinary issues at Euro 2012.

"France is a big football country, but has been sick for two years. They did not understand the shame of the 2010 World Cup and have not alleviated that atmosphere," he told EMC.

"They failed to eliminate all that was rotten within the team. The failure was almost predictable."

France were knocked out in the Euro 2012 quarter-finals to eventual winners Spain.
