Thomas Muller scores twice against Fortuna Dusseldorf in Bayern Munich's historic eighth successive win in the Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich have become the first team in Bundesliga history to win eight successive matches at the start of a season.

The Bavarian giants accomplished the feat on Saturday with a 5-0 away victory over Fortuna Dusseldorf.

The visitors were always in control at the Esprit Arena and could have gone ahead as early as the sixth minute, had Dusseldorf goalkeeper Fabian Giefer not kept out Mario Mandzukic's attempt from inside the box.

Four minutes later Robbie Kruse almost scored an own goal and then Toni Kroos forced Giefer into making a save with a shot from 25 yards.

Thomas Muller thought that he had scored when he put the ball inside the Dusseldorf goal, but his effort was ruled out because of offside.

Bayern finally broke the deadlock in the 28th minute and the opening goal of the afternoon came from Mandzukic, who slotted home Franck Ribery's clinical cross.

Eight minutes later Luiz Gustavo doubled the Bundesliga leaders' advantage when the ball ricocheted off him into the net.

Muller virtually wrapped up the points for Bayern 10 minutes into the restart with an instinctive first-time finish from a precise Ribery pass.

The Germany international scored his second goal with four minutes left on the clock and moments later Rafinha added the cherry on the cake with Bayern's fifth of the afternoon.
